Matthew works on emerging pathogenic fungi & heads a research group in the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis in Imperial College London School of Public Health. His research is on developing genomic, epidemiological, & experimental models to uncover the factors driving fungal infections so to develop new methods of diagnosis and control. He leads NERC & Wellcome Trust awards investigating the emergence of antifungal resistance in the pulmonary pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus.
