Groundswell takes place over two days – Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th June 2019 at Lannock Manor Farm, a working no-till farm in North Hertfordshire, just off Junction 9 of the A1(M). The postcode is SG4 7EE (link to Google Maps).
The gates open at 8am both days and there are continental and hot breakfast options available at various locations around the site. The first sessions kick off at 9am both days and come to a close at 5pm on Thursday. The full programme will be kept updated on the website schedule page.
On arrival you pass through the Registration Tent where you collect your lanyard, wristband and Groundswell Bag which contains a few essentials you will need for your visit, including your Event Guide. Please note no access to the site will be permitted without your wristband.
The majority of delegates arrive by car and there is a large free car parking field. If you are arriving by train the nearest stations are Stevenage and Baldock which are both less than 10 minutes drive, roughly £12 in a taxi from the rank. The taxi drop off point is next to the Registration Tent. Stevenage Station is on the main North East rail route and trains take approximately 20 minutes from London Kings Cross or St Pancras. If you are arriving by plane, London Stansted and Luton are both approximately 30 minutes by car. Heathrow is 60 minutes.
Accommodation options are plentiful in the area ranging from corporate hotel to farmhouse B&B. Some people choose to camp in the large camping area next to the car park. Hot showers and toilet facilities are available There is also Glamping available on site from £60 per person (for 3 nights!) – please book through Woodville Projects. There is a camping pitch fee of £8 per person.
Groundswell has a new show layout this year with the entirety of the event taking place to the south of Lannock Manor Farm. There is a new Demo Field where you can see the Direct Drill Demonstrations on each day.
There are two main session barns in the farmyard area, the Conference Barn and the Seminar Barn. In the Pasture Field you will find the Soil Tent and the Agricology Discussion Tent. New for 2019 we have also launched the Food for Thought Tent which opens up the dialogue with consumers and policy makers.
There are a wide range of food providers open throughout the day. Please use your re-usable enamel mug that you are given where possible. Affinity Water are our headline sponsors and will provide water bottles and clean drinking water.
Wednesday Evening there is a huge spit-roast pasture-fed bbq on offer from 6pm to 7.30pm (bar open till late!). Tokens can be purchased from Luppo at the StraightLine Nutrition Tent. Wash it down with an ale in the Earthworm Arms on-site pub which is a good place to relax at any time throughout the event. Ruby Wax will be hosting a light hearted evening session in the Conference Barn about “the Courage to Change”.
The capacity of the site is limited – please make sure to get your tickets in advance to avoid missing out.
We look forward to hosting you and if there is anything you would like to ask us, please ask.
