2023

Abby Allen from Pipers Farm to speak this year is the author of The Sustainable Meat Cookbook (released Sept ’22) and a passionate food campaigner devoted to creating a positive future for small family farms through her ceaseless activity behind the scenes in the sustainable farming movement.

Abby’s approach to cooking is not just meat and two veg – and is far more than simply countering the vegan spike, this is the definition of fair, honest, sustainable food.

Called out by BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme as one of the year’s best cookbooks, The Sustainable Meat Cookbook explores the connection between nature and farming. The result is a mixture of hands-in-the-earth wisdom and balanced seasonal recipes.

Pipers Farm in Devon was founded by Peter and Henri Greig over 30 years ago as a reaction to the industrialisation of meat in the 1970s and 80s. What started as a 50-acre farm and a small butcher’s shop serving a loyal tribe of regular customers is now a thriving national online delivery service for true artisan, sustainably produced British meat. Every purchase from Pipers Farm helps to support small-scale farmers across the South West.
