Abi Aspen

2022

Abi Aspen is a bioengineer, farmer and miller.

She began her career as the first cultivated meat technical researcher in the UK, before seeing holes in the technology and her food knowledge she swapped lab grown meat for fields of wheat.

She then spent time at Stone Barns and Blue Hill learning to be a farmer, then landed back in the UK with the beautiful family at Weston Park Farm. Her next stop was to Duchess Farms, where she held the position of head of grains, growing and milling non-commodity crops.

Knowing in the back of her mind she wanted to team good farming with sustainable biotech, in 2021 she co-founded and took the position of CTO at Food Squared, who upcycle food and drink manufacturing byproducts into new ingredients.

Alongside her partner in crime Sadhbh Moore she also co-founded The Sustainable Food Story’ a eco-inspired roving food experience. After appearing on ‘My Million Pound Menu’ and being shortlisted for a YBF award, they released their first book in April 2022 ‘Sustainable Kitchen’.
