Ali is Water Policy Manager at The Wildlife Trusts, working nationally on issues from pollution to flooding to species conservation. With her early career spent managing river restoration projects, she brings catchment-level experience into her policy work, where nutrient pollution is a core consideration in improving river health. She advocates for the practical tools, regulatory levers & financial incentives needed to drive down nutrient losses and deliver a more sustainable farming sector.
Nitrogen is vital for farming, yet arable systems lose most of it, wasting resources and harming nature. With only 11% efficiency across the lifecycle, it’s time to rethink nutrient circularity. This session explores how improving nutrient use at farm, catchment and national levels can cut pollution and boost farm resilience.
