Ashley started growing dyeplants as a horticultural therapist at Earthworks St Albans. He has over fifteen years’ experience of growing and using dyeplants at garden scale, from the classic woad, weld and madder to more unusual plants. Ashley has sought to build a practical understanding of historical native dyeplants and others with potential for the UK documenting his findings on the Nature’s Rainbow blog. Having mentored many craftspeople, therapists and educators growing dyeplants for their own and community use Ashley is now keen to share his knowledge of dye plants with smallholders working at a larger scale.
