Catherine works at the Centre for Rural Policy Research, University of Exeter. Her main research interest is understanding social factors influencing farming’s relationship with wider society, focusing on the role of in-person engagement between farming and nonfarming people in building relationships that underpin farmers’ social licence to operate. Before turning to academic research, she farmed 100% pasture-fed beef and sheep on her farm in Devon. She is a PfL Board member.
