Duncan Farrington

Duncan Farrington

Duncan Farrington was born and brought up on Bottom Farm in the Northamptonshire village of Hargrave. Following university, he joined his parents in the family business as a fourth generation farmer.

Following years of research on rapeseed oil, he launched Farrinton’s Mellow Yellow in 2005 as Britain’s first ‘seed to bottle’ cold pressed rapeseed oil.

Duncan views being a farmer working in the beautiful English countryside as a privileged job which brings with it great responsibility for looking after the surroundings. With this in mind he has always tried to improve the way he farms his crops and looks after the wider environment.

Duncan continues in his quest to learn how best to nurture and improve his soils. He stopped using the plough in 1998 when he took up min till and zero till techniques, he grows a sustainable crop rotation, fertility building green manure and companion crops. He is a proud supporter of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and works hard with his partner farmers to ensure the rapeseed grown to produce Mellow Yellow products is done to the LEAF Marque Standards.
