Born in 1961, Gerhard studied biology in Regensburg, then Wildlife Management at Colorado State University, finishing with a Master of Science in ‘88. Initially he worked on the project “Beavers in Bavaria”, and then as beaver manager for Southern Bavaria. Over the years he has educated 600 local ‘beaver consultants’ for Bavaria, & 300 more in other countries, as well as undertaking the organisation & realization of the export of 1,000+ beavers for numerous reintroductions in other countries.
