Marisa is the author of The Future of Small Abattoirs report and led the Parliamentary inquiry into this issue over 2020. Once of the recommendations in that report was to set up a sector group and Marisa created the Abattoir Sector Group in 2021 to which she acts as an advisor. Marisa is also the co-chair of the Small Abattoir Task Group which is a DEFRA group set up to troubleshoot the problems facing the sector. Marisa also runs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare.
