Matthew Ingram is an author and filmmaker. His previous book “Retreat: How the Counterculture Invented Wellness” (2020) looked at health methodologies that emerged from the hippie era like meditation, Macrobiotic food, and the use of psychedelics in psychiatry. His latest book, “The Garden: Visionary Growers and Farmers of the Counterculture” (2025) explores the counterculture’s adoption of agriculture. He runs the website SickVeg.com.
