East Yorkshire Hemp started industrial hemp production in 2002 on the family farm near Brandesburton, Driffield. They have installed machinery to produce hemp shivs for animal bedding and construction materials, and hemp fibre for textiles, insulation and biocomposite. Any waste is either briquettes for fuel or composted and returned to the land. Nick has used part of his harvest to build a home. The Voase family live in an amazing eco-hemp house, held together with lime, that keeps cool in the summer and warm in the winter. For Nick, the journey to growing his own house was full of twists and turns, but the results were well worth the ride.
This session delves into some of the current and future market opportunities for domestic hemp that are driving growth in the industry. Join our experienced panel as they discuss the practicalities of a climate-positive value chain and how farmers can tap into this novel cash crop.
