Rob has been trialling mixed cropping of companion planting oil seed rape with berseem clover and buckwheat. They’re part of a trial with South Staffs Water, who’s main goals are to reduce pesticides in the water, run-off and soil erosion as well as fix nitrogen and improve soil structure. He has also been grazing his cereals and oilseed rape with sheep to reduce inputs requirements and maximising the use of FYM from the integration of beef cattle and sheep with his arable enterprise.
