Sam Hanks

2024

Sam Hanks is the Wilder Landscapes Manager at Suffolk Wildlife Trust, leading the charity’s off-reserve advisory team, working with farmers, community groups, riparian managers, and private nature reserve owners. A significant proportion of this work involves developing collaborative groups of farmers to better realise benefits for nature and farming businesses at landscape scale. Sam directly facilitates the Blyth Valley Farm Cluster and set up the Wool Towns Famer Cluster. Recently Sam has led on development of two successful landscape recovery projects in Suffolk, in collaboration with around 80 farmers. These innovative projects are actively developing Nature based Solutions and engaging with emerging private finance markets to fund truly ambitious nature recovery actions.

Having worked as a land management contractor, nature reserve warden, farm wildlife adviser and currently managing a small organic farm, Sam’s practical experience and approach combines with the more technical aspects of his work to give a well-grounded and straightforward approach to the delivery of projects.
