Tim Crabtree is Director of Wessex Community Assets, which focuses on housing, renewable energy and bioregional materials. He coordinates the Raise the Roof project, linking new construction approaches with local processing of natural materials, such as timber, hemp and flax. Wessex has been working with local farmers for 3 years on field trials of hemp – this year also growing flax, both for construction uses and for textiles. Tim is also a part-time researcher at Plymouth University, and has partnered with colleagues in the digital fabrication lab, including exploring the potential to develop further iterations of open source processing equipment.
