Tom McVeigh is a 13th generation farmer in Suffolk. Upon returning to his family farm four years ago, he became involved in the SFI pilot scheme and began altering the farms practices in line with the move away from BPS payments. He was awarded funding through the Nuffield farming trust to write a paper investigating walnuts and hazelnuts as a crop alternative, the details of which he now hopes to share with other farmers.
