William Selborne manages Blackmoor Estate in Hampshire. The farm grows apples, cherries and pears alongside an arable operation. It also operates a fruit nursery selling fruit trees and bushes direct to gardeners (www.blackmoor.co.uk). The estate is in a Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship agreement.
Prior to farming William worked in Southern Africa conducting research on smallholder agriculture and conservation including landscape-scale transboundary conservation projects.
Since 2014 William has Chaired the Selborne Landscape Partnership. This is a farmer-led ‘cluster’ covering 4000 ha around the village of Selborne with the aim of delivering a joined up approach to farmland conservation and environmental work.
