The family origins of many farms can present distinct challenges when managing transformative change. These might include the need to marry traditional and inherited ways of working with more modern ones, the search for compromise between differing opinions of family stakeholders, and the sometimes tricky dynamics of incorporating non-family members into the management team. This session will shed light on the prevalence of such challenges, as well as exploring methods for overcoming them, including through acknowledgement of family and ancestral influences. Speakers will include a succession facilitator working with farm businesses to resolve inheritance and other family challenges, and a constellation facilitator who will talk about the value of systemic mapping for surfacing hidden dynamics and shifting blockages to change.
