Hedgerow Safari

Safari Tent

Mature hedgerows provide significant benefits for farming, from shelter for livestock to reducing soil erosion. They are also crucial in supporting farmland biodiversity, including providing pollen and nectar for bees and insects that pollinate our crops. Hedgerows also sequester carbon in their biomass and soil, and can provide flood risk alleviation. So join us for a practical session to view hedgerows around the Groundswell site, and discuss and ask questions about hedges, including (i) how to meet government targets for creating and restoring 30,000 miles of hedgerows by 2037, (ii) practical solutions for planting and establishing new hedges, (iii) how to implement a management cycle that works for you and (iv) the multiple benefits of hedgerows in agricultural landscapes.
