British farming is under pressure. The Future Farming Programme began with real promise. But that coalition is now coming apart. First the scrapping of Agricultural Property Relief for many farmers. Then, without warning, the government cut the Sustainable Farming Incentive. Now media is full of talk that the SFI may not return, and that cheap, low-welfare imports will drive British farmers out of business. Some fear a lurch back to industrial farming. All this comes as food security is already under threat.
