A proud New Zealand Maori, live fire chef and BBQ aficionado, Matt started his career in Wellington before moving to London in 1998. Working with Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver, he eventually became Group Executive Chef at Caravan and Vardo Restaurants. Matt began his next move in 2022, starting his own food consultancy business, Kaiwhenua, meaning ‘food from the land’ in his native Maori. His love for the land, and the bounty it provides is a the heart of everything he does.
